Old school penpals

I have to admit, i love receiving letters from friends. When we live now, in this world with so much technology, and yes with blogs, the world is becoming smaller. And that's okay, you can be in touch with someone in a click. True: It's very useful if there is an emergency. But because of Facebook, Twitter and Whatsapp you only talk to friends through your "online" phone. The time of texting and calling seems to be over. Let alone writing a letter. So, writing letters is probably forgotten by my generation. Strange actually, while not long ago.. Read; in the year i was born, 1992, writing letters was probably pretty normal.

Anyway, by chance i got an English friend of my friend to write letters to. It's always a suprise whent the next letter arrives. And i can't wait to open and read the letter. I don't mind if it's short or long. I like writing to someone, it feels more intimate then chatting on an online service. Handwriting can tell you if the person was in a hurry, or coffee stains may suggest the other person was writing it on his or her coffee break. I think it's remarkable to find that all out just looking at a letter.

What is also very interesting is the concept of sending postcards. Today it's more to say hi or really for a birthday with a present. At Postcrossing you can send a postcard to all kind of people on the world! I already received 2 beautiful postcards. And, i'm about to send a new one to Russia this afternoon. It's always interesting to find out what's on peoples mind.

Try it, maybe you'll like it. I know i do.

Good luck!
